DO YOUR JOB!!!

These NBA playoffs have been the rebirth of solid basketball, but there is one thing that is just killing me. Year after year there is someone who asks "Do the coaches really do anything? Aren't the superstars just runnin things?" and for a long time I've always stood up for the coaches. Basketball is an intricate game and coaches gameplans provide so much more than the stars can provide on the court...but this new in game interview thing?

I know everyone watching games at home wants as much of an inside access as possible. You buy ESPN Insider access, you watch "Kobe Doin Work", but there is no need for these coaches to take time out of a valuable timeout to talk to a reporter. There is plenty of time for that before, at halftime, or after the game. As a coach you're being paid to do a job, and that does not include talking to the supermodel drone being directed on what questions to ask through an earpiece by a fat dude in the studio. I would hope Phil "Stick it to the man" Jackson of all people would stick to the integrity of the game and tell them to go sit on the microphone.

If you get paid to do a job you should not let distractions interfere, the media (and this is in all sports) have taken it too far.

The NBA, where COACHING needs to happen.
